EMDR

The pain we feel... feels insurmountable

Sometimes the pain we feel feels insurmountable……like the tallest mountain we have ever seen and wonder how in the world you could ever climb it. Like many of our clients you may have been struggling for years with past hurts or you may have had a recent event that sent your life into a tailspin.

Whatever the pain. Whatever the past. EMDR may be able to help.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidenced based treatment approach for treating trauma, PTSD, and other life events that cause distress. EMDR is a framework that provides the therapist a lens to view trauma/life events and how it stores in the brain/body in order to effectively treat and release stored trauma memories.

How does EMDR work?

EMDR works by helping you access stored traumatic memories within your brain that are creating current distress.  Put simply….your brain stores memories that create a reaction to today based on its experience…..with EMDR we can access these memories, heal their core, and reduce present day reactions… therefore changing your behavior and experience of today.

EMDR isn't just for trauma

While EMDR has gotten it’s name out there for treating trauma and PTSD it can treat a variety of issues you may be facing such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic
  • Chronic Pain
  • Stress
  • Recent events such as car accidents or witnessing events
  • Complicated grief
  • Sleep issues
  • & MUCH more.
